5 wire positive, you need a set of relays also. Drivers kick panel will give you the master set of wires.

not sure what you mean by 5 wire. Do you have a schematic or can you explain more what 5 wire posative means more

I'm not trying to be a d*ck or nothing, but it sounds like you might not outta be doing this. The 5wire system has to be done right or you risk melting wires and possible fire. Wired incorrectly it can snap 40 amp doorlock fuses in a split second, so there is mucho current being used. Problem is, the new relays would be running off strait 12v and not the doorlock fuse. I'd get everything working and run the truck to a Pro tommorrow and let them finish the locks. outta not be to much since you'd have the rest done.

Lotta people learn by trial and error. Just let him know that if he burns anything up you aren't responsible. The point of boards like this is to help people avoid having to go to the 'Pros.' If he wants to try it well then by all means let him go at it. I didn't know jack sh*t about Explorers and how to work on vehicles until i basically just tore into mine and figured it out. There isn't one thing that i have on my truck that i didn't put on myself and not one of those things did i know how to do before i started. If he thinks it sounds too hard then he'll go to a Pro. Not that many people know what a 5 wire positive system nor do they care. But if ya need to know ya need to know. So let him know. :p

i was really trying to avoid a write up on this because it's past 1 am on the east coast and i cant see to type (yawn) but you need to know all this so.....

grab the doorlocks in the drivers side kick panel.
you have to know which side is switch and which side is motor, reversing them starts fires.
once you determine which is which, wire the relays. hook the relays to power and ground and integrate them into the doorlocks (completely cut the doorlock wire in half).
if possible, fues the relays power wire @ 20 amps and NO MORE.
place the relays and wires behind the kick panel and move the wires out of the way of the parking brake at the top. there is little room for error on the explorers, be creative and get them up high or the parking brake will slice them when applied and ....more fire.

you can get it wrong 4 times before you get it right, assuming the relays are wired correctly. when you hit the doorlocks with the remote and nothing happens start pulling the relay hot wire because they are backwards and are locking up (big trouble). Re-wire the locks and try again.

(yawn)... now i'm going to bed. :D

I was looking at the Bulldog security website and it said that most of the Ford vehicles have the type C door locks which is the reverse polarity. So am I missing something here?

Yeah I found that out. Thanks, the other guy was way wrong. But I am still having problems with the hook up so I am probly going to give it one more try and then if that does not work take it to get fixed.

Dude! don't give up. I'm going through pretty much the same problem. Let's try and figure this out ourselves with the help of this site, as long as we don't catch our selves on fire!;) I think I've pretty much figured this out. Tell me what you've tried so far and I or someone else can help you.

Did you guys get it figured out? If not I have a diagram of how a reverse polarity door lock is supposed to be wired using 2 relays. I havne't gotten mine to work either but if it's a reverse polarity i can get it working. I thought it was a negative trigger too. Too bad it's not cause the alarm I have only needs 2 wires hooked up and no relays for negative trigger.

Wow, I ran into the same problem as you guys when I installed my bulldog remote start. I worked on getting the keyless entry to work for about a week, then I just got so sick of it that I quit. Now you all got me thinkin, and I just might have to try this out again..lol

Ok i've wired alarms several times and twice in explorers. If you tell me where I can find the wire map for your alarm (or send it to me). I will tell you how to wire then into the X.

Different alarms wire in differently. Some have two wire output some have 4.
