Ok guy's this is going to sound a little weird, but the other day I was challenging my friend to a burnout contest with my explorer, I have the 4.6L V8 with the posi 3.73 rear end,it has no problem spinning the back wheels but only to about 20mph, it left about a 7 foot burn out and then started to stop like it lost power, I really never beat on the car just have a little fun every now and then, I also know it only puts out 240hp and 280 somthing foot pounds of torque but the reason why I think it struggles is because the clutch fan and all the accessories, I really want to get more power out of it so I can have some more get up and go, I was wondering what could I do to achieve this, just a few things on top of my head are (93 octane tune, 6k rpm tune, clutch fan delete, headers, full exuast/ straight pipe, and add a cold air intake). im trying to atleast get in the 300 hp 300ft lbs of torque. I will later get into a blower, but I wonder how many psi of boost the stock 4.6 can take as well as the stock transmission so if anyone can let me know how much hp i could possibly make with those few mods or what other mods i can do to gain the extra power i would greatly appreciate it! Thanks guys!

You will not hit 300HP without boost or extensive engine work like heads/cam. Simple bolt-ons would be an intake, exhaust, under-drive pulleys, electric fan, and tune. That might net you 20HP at the crank, but it does also help fuel economy a little too.

Ok thanks! I'm looking into a cam and some heads, also looking up some info on the 2.1 kenne bell supercharger, also looking into the upgraded heavy duty transmission!

You're about to drop some serious coin! What is your end goal? These motors are only good to about 400hp before you need to thinking about building it (transmission too). Personally, I'd get the supercharger, shot for about 350hp and enjoy.

Edit: As Josh said, basic bolt-ons will help too. I gained .5 sec in the 1/4 mile from the tune only with my best overall run being 15.1 (tune/cat-back, on 20's and 2nd/3rd row seats removed). Now have a CAI and could use a retune, but it's running good as is.

For what you're about to spend why not just sell explorer and start with a better platform?

Like is said I was going more towards the 300 hp range but would like to make just around 400-450 hp, so I'm guessing that just the blower will do it? I found a kit that comes with basically everything, fuel injectors, maf sensor, programmer and it is about 6k, I'll also be upgrading my transmission, anyone know where to get a nice heavy duty one? Thanks all.
