Power seat is stuck in forward position. Switch doesn't respond, little access to move drive screws to motor - even with the seat removed. Is there a way to fix, or should I consider conversion to non-power seat? Same mounting holes? Thx

My passenger seat motor is week or failing and will not always move. I got it into a position that was more or less agreeable to most who would sit in it and disconnected the controls so no one would move it.

I two am contemplating switching it to non-powered seats. But that is a future project when I'm not worrying about Christmas.

My 2000 XLT driver seat won't move front to back, not will the front tilt work. I got it out and look at the mechanism. Sadly, the motor frame is warped, which is causing the flexible coupling to one of the screws for front-back motion to disengage from the motor shaft, and it is only driving one of the screws - the seat twists instead of moving. This is also causing the front tilt to bind. Fix is to either straighten the frame (nigh impossible from what I can see) or get a new one at the JY. I'll snag that JBL sub while I'm there for a sub install project. Arg. I wonder how the seat got racked in the first place... Maybe I should have met the seller's wife before I bought it, eh? It was her car... Or maybe an unpreported accident?
