I have a 91 Explorer 4x4. the other day I took the kids to Mickey D's and after I left the drive thru I pulled in the parking place to hand out the happy meals. well after I did that I put it in reverse and I noticed I didn't have power steering anymore. it worked fine until I stopped for that minute in the parking lot. there is fluid in the PS Res, but it is very brown. Do I need to replace the PS pump? Has anyone got a rebuild kit for a PS pump and do they work. It is a pain in the butt driving the thing without PS. Thanks for any help guys!

Power steering pump

Mine is a 92 with 173,000 miles. Last week the power steering pump started leaking. I appears to leak on the underside, maybe where the plastic reservior joins the main body. Is there a way to tighten this up? I added Valvoline high-maileage fluid with stop leak, but I'm not optimistic.

How hard is it to fix or change the pump?

Thanks.
