power steering pump. I have a 1992 ford explorer. I used to own a bronco 11, but when it died I upgraded to the explorer. I haven't taking it off road yet. I learned my lesson with the bronco. A very expensive lesson..... but I sure did have a lot of fun, things that I will never forget. Any way my steering has some play in it. when driving down the road the steering wheel can move about 1.5" to 2.5" I wondering how to make the adjustment that will take care of that.

Have the front end inspected for a loose tie-rod end or trac bar. If all checks out fine there is a adjuster screw on the steering box that can be used to tighten the play, but I suggest that you have a certified front-end technician adjust it. I recomend this because if done improperly you can loose the return-to-center function of the box, meaning it won't strighten the front wheels when you let go after a turn.
