Power steering

94 EB: Sudden "moaning" , followed by hard steering. Checked res. and fluid looks like it is boiling out the top. Tried filling and it sucked up the fluid and still acted like it was boiling over and steering was hard as hell. Iam thinking it was the steering box not the res.

The "moaning" in any power steering unit is the pump going to bypass due to excessive pressure "downstream" of the pump. Bypassing continously recirculates the fluid internally (of the pump), hence the abnormal heat buildup and "boiling over". So you're on the right track, its probably the steering gearbox. Dont run the vehicle if its constantly moaning BTW because it will ruin the pump if the power steering fluid breaks down.
