Power trax and Lock rite installs

I love it!

After the first some miles (on road) with the EZ-Locker, I noticed that - I did not notice any difference! LOL
Just if I step hard on the gas pedal in a tight turn I can feel the locker engaging and hear the tire chirp. Other than that, no clicks, no clacks, just a nice, comfortable vehicle as it was before. Actually, I do manage to accelerate a lot harder on my 50 yard gravel driveway, therefore I guess that the locker works fine. hehehe

Congrats on the EZ locker Michael, looks like you may get to try it in the snow and ICE later this weekend. I was hoping some snow would come to DC but it looks like it will be to the south of DC now. Oh well next time.

Have Fun.

donkey boy,
What made you go with the EZ-Locker instead of the no-slip?
Just wondering!!!

Why I chose the EZ-locker? Let's see...

Hmmm, I need to admit I don't even really know. I knew the brandname Detroit for a while and always wanted a locker like the Detroit. That's maybe why. I also read good things about them on this board and I thought, most people using lockers are using Detroits, even though I notice now that propably even more use No-Slip.

Important point also was price: I make a lot of miles, unluckily most of them on road. My vehicle anyhow will be history in about four to five years; I maybe get to go hard core wheeling, whatever that means with an almost stock Explorer, once a year and get to do some trails four times a year. The rest are roadmiles in all possible and impossible road conditions. The EZ-locker is nothing fancy, but I think it offers very good quality for the price. I don't think a more expensive one would offer a lot of advantages. Like with the winch, obviously I would not mind having an ARB in the back, but ...

Actually, this is an interesting question. So I would like to pass it on: What made you all choose the locker brand you chose?

update

I thought Id update this for those who care.

Well after more than 500 road miles with the No-Slip installed , I can say that I like it even more than my first report. I have driven it on dirt/ mud roads, on rain covered pavement, ice, and snow and it is working great on all surfaces.

It is just about invisable to the driver. On roads with some camber you get a funny feeling you get with a locker- but it is very mild. With power on out of a corner you know its there, but for most of the normal onroad driving it is wonderful.

I havent done any serious offroad yet, but on some site visits it has performed very well in dirt, mud. We had some ice and snow this week and last, and was expecting the worst( I had an overpowered CJ with a Detroit which was a handful on snow and ice) but am very pleased. It Let me run in 2wd most times, very little side slip - unless you really get on the pedal out of corners(it happens on the straights too if you really get into it). The NO-Slip and the Goodyears are a very nice snow combo in my book.

I am very very happy!

Those interested might want to check the Feb 2001 issue of Fourwheeler, pp30. In it they have a picture install of the No-Slip into a C***y 10 bolt which is exactly like the 8.8 install procedure in the Explorer. The parts even look the same.

Just thought Id share -

Good to hear SteveVB
My local 4x4 shop ordered mine the first of last week and I think it missed the stage coach. Still haven't seen it yet. They said it should be here last Friday, then they said yesterday or today so that means won't get it in until next week now. Hate the holidays for shipping stuff.
Thanks for the latest report, looking forward to getting mine in.
