2002 Explorer
I have a 2002 Explorer that recently, on a cold morning, my driver's window motor was working but making a crunching sound and the window would not go down (or up).
I took the door panel, electrical connections and that sheet of whatever it is inside the door off and discovered that the cables that move the window were no longer connected and the plastic housing that connects the cable to the tracks had snapped in pieces.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do to fix it? I fear that If I take it to the dealer I'm gonna pay a lot of money.

I don't have pictures due to all the damage being inside the door. It appears as though the cables all became disconnected due to coming out of their housings. I've read in similar posts where a few people have had this problem. To add insult to injury, now my back driver's side window did the same thing. I have wood wedges holding my windows up. I'm soooooo ghetto! I'm really tired of this truck. On top of the windows, I deal with the stupid "Door Ajar" light (I've read all the posts and did the WD40 thing; didn't work), my check engine light has been on for 1.5 years (Code P1400), and my front wheel bearings make horrible noises. I spend a lot of time on here trying to figure out what to fix first.

I don't have your problem but my 08 sporttrac driver, pasenger side windows won't go up or down just had rear window replaced weather strip fell out I'm begining to think these fords are really junk they use the cheapest parts they can get don't believe they have the quality they advertize!

Hi harley05,

I'm Cory with Ford Customer Service. I would like try to help with your Sport Trac’s window issues. Have you had this looked at by a Ford dealer? If you'd like to send me a PM with your VIN, mileage, and contact info; I can do some research on my end.

Cory

I took to ford dealer & when pulled in warm service bay for about 15 minutes windows worked after down & up we noticed windows wet no rain & only little snow but 20 degrees only thing we could figure they were FROZE thought isn't this just great weather strip not doing job or water not being releived from door will probably have to deal with this all winter & it's only december! wish me luck for next 3 months or so.
