tonight, all of a sudden, my driver's window didn't want to work right. there is no more one touch down and it takes a year and a day to go down, but its just about normal speed going up except when its like 2 inches fromt he top where it slows down. its closed now and i plan on keeping it like that. my question is how hard is it to change the power window motor and how much would one cost. thanks alot.

Make sure the glass isn't binding.

Taking the motor out is easy after you've done it 3-5 times. I can do mine in about 5 minutes, but it took me 2 hours the first time. If you really want to do it,I can give you instructions, or maybe you should buy a Haynes manual.

i have a haynes manula, but all it gives me is general information on my power window systrem. i would really appreciate it if you could give me instructions. i had a driver's side accident this past summer and it involved removing my glass rom the doors because of work they had to do. i have no clue at this point. i guess i have to remove my door panel to sdee whats up. which stinks because its 10 degrees outaide, hehe. thanks.

I'd do a search on the board if I were you. I know how to do it on the 91-94s, I dunno how similar the 2nd gen Explorers are.

mine does the same thing. down slow, up normal. i am going to use silicone spray and grease up the motor . i heard that could do it.

i sprayed some wd40 in the tracks on all of my windows. it fixed the problem untill it got real cold out. now the wd40 is frozeen, and the problem is even worse. dont use wd40 on the tracks if you live in an area of cold weather.
