Hi all. New to the forum. I hate to ask on the first post a "How To" question, but it's getting late in the summer and the leaves will be turning color soon....and the one window has a tendancy to keep sliding down!
My 02' Explorer has had a second power window (rear driver side) go out. I had a front passenger side go out a year ago (same issue). Motor seems to work (you can hear it doing it's thing) but the window is on it's own...it doesn't drop, but will slowly scooch down when driving over bumps.
I've seen DIY repairs for the 90's Explorers that replace the nylon bushings in the motor gear assembly...but I have a sneaking suspicion that my 02' has a different motor. I pulled the front door panel/insulation covering when the first one went, and remember that the cable was not attached (the wife said she heard a loud pop/bang when the rear window went last month). I couldn't figure it out (and it was cold!) so I had the dealer repair the last window, but would rather not drop the +$400 on this second repair!
Any advice on this one? New window regulator? Anyone have any pics of this repair? Thanks guys!
