Hi Everyone ! I've got a '97 XLT with a lot of functions on the driver seat.. needless to say that it is an electric seat.. so everything must be driven by some motor. Now, the thing is that there is a switch which to me it looks like it should drive the back part of the driver seat (where your back leans to) not the seat part. When I press the button, there is a sound like a motor spinning but nothing happens. Am I right in assuming that some sort of gear control or plastic thing has broken somewhere there ? Does anyone have any pic or schematic for this so I can identify what the heck that is ? Also, another question is.. do you know an online shop selling bits for that ?

Thanks for any response !

the tilt of the back wasnt power on any model

the adjustments are

the whole seat moves forward and back and up and down (big knob thing)

front of seat moves up or down (buttons in front of knob)

back of seat moves up or down (buttons behind the knob)

air filled lumbar (lower back) support

and air filled bolsters

some have a heated seat button too

if either of the air options are not holding air you might just need a new valve/button and those WILL sound like a motor spinning continuously

I knew it ! There is always someone with the right knowledge.. Thanks electro ! Now I know what to look for.. ..
Now, it does sound like you know this stuff.. so I would like to ask you another thing.. do you knwo where the switch for the back light is ? I mean the light from the "boot" area at the back of the car.. That one is continuously on so I had to disconnect the battery to keep it from draining..

mine does not have this

Oh.. ok.. I'll post a thread then, maybe someone will have a clue about it :D

It sounds like you have a bad door switch. Does the center light in the front between the driver & passenger stay on as well? Both lights come on together.

It could also be that the dimmer knob for the dash lights is pushed all the way up. This turns the boot light and other light I mentioned on.

Damn.. the things you learn.. it was the dimming knob.. funny enough, i couldn't find (or I didn't look close enough) anything about this function of the dimming knob in the manual. Also, I am surprised they haven't put a label on that wheel at the maximum adjustment to say "luggage light on" or something like that. Anyway, thanks Dan. It really wasn't anything wrong.. that wheel was in the foremost top position.

Your welcome. :) I'm glad it was something simple.
