A guy has a powertrax unit on ebay, but not much description. I couldn't find that number on the UPC sticker anywhere, so I was wondering it would fit.

Dead Link Removed

It's a 8.8 31 spline. Doesn't say L/S or open, or any part numbers.

It's for an LS 8.8. I looked up that number on the box for you.

cool..

Thanks

Where did you find it?

EDIT:
nevermind, I just did a search using the number.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I seen that somewhere. It was listed under Mustangs that had upgraded 31 spline shafts, but I figured everything else would be the same.

Wouldn't a 8.8 with 31 splines on a mustang be the same as the 8.8 on a X? I seen this guy just bought it recently and is now selling it, maybe that's why. I thought it was kinda cheap.

Wait a minute, are you sure.

PT VX182C Ford 8.8", 31 Spline Heavy Duty LockRight w/ Cross Pin ( Fits Trac Lock Case )

Ford 8.8" ring gear 31 tooth VX182C (1*)
1*. The locker is for differentials where the factory axles have been replaced with 31 spline axles

It doesn't mention anything about the cross-shaft size.

ok maybe your right,
according to several posts 8.8 explorer has 7/8" pinion (cross) shaft

That's what I couldn't find the first time, the crosspin stuff.

Sorry I was only half right the first time.

Would anyone know the part number for a Powertrax Lock-Right for a 8.8 31 spline 7/8" pinion shaft L/S diff that will fit in a X.
Powertrax site doesn't list any Lock-right for a L/S diff, but I know they exist. There are people here that run them.

I have been searching, but haven't found it yet. I did see where some pinion shafts were 3/4" though. Confusing.. I guess you have to measure for yourself.

Another weird thing a came across. Front diffs. 28 or 35 Dana. Most say 35, a few 28's.
Powertrax lists them as 28 also..

If you get a Lock-Right you HAVE to order one for an 8.8 OPEN and buy an extra open carrier (~$75) thats how people get them! (Randy's ring and pinion have open carriers for sale $77)

In a 91 you could have either 28 or 35, mostly 35.

I guess there isn't a lockright available for the LS diff, you'll need to get an open carrier; I may have one laying around.

Exactly, but PowerTrax does offer a No-Slip for the LS, a bit more pricey, but once you ad in the price of the open carrier (for the lockRight, unless Alec gives you the "hook up") the No-Slip is only a few bucks more

That's wha tI thought, by the time I spend $75 on the carrier and the extra time to install it, I would rather just spend the extra $100 on the No-Slip.

I may just rebuild my L/S for $50.

Just see if Alec will hook you up with the open carrier, cause if you don't i will!

I need to inspect it, but $20 + shipping takes it.

Give me zips to calculate shipping.

40121 :D

Yomie, shipping will be about $20. I guess you posted your zip first so you have dibs?

Lonestar, interested?

Not right now, thanks for the offer though

I just don't have the other $350 required for the lock-right right now.
I think when (and if) I decide to go with powertrax, I'll just spring for the no-slip.
