I was wondering if anyone is running the PowerTrax
No-Slip Traction System in there Explorer?
If so, how do you like it and how does it do on the highway?
Is it a good option for a locker???
Any info will be helpful. This is the part number I was told is for the Explorer. part#92-0688-3108.

Perry, I don't have it (yet), but have done extensive research in an effort to acquire a locker for my '99 daily driver. From what I have learned, if you don't go ARB, the Powertrax NoSlip is by far the best choice. It is what I will be getting unless I hit the lottery and can afford the ARB once it comes out.

It evidently has none of the noise/clicking/ratcheting on hard surface that other lockers have and is by far the most street friendly of the lockers (with the possible exception of the new Detroit Gearless which requires special fluid and has clutch plates that will eventually wear out). Installation seems to be doable by average wrenchheads without the need for worry on backlash adjustments/etc. One of the mags (can't remember which) did a test not too long ago and was not able to break it on the trail and praised its street manners.

I have researched ALL available lockers and have concluded that this one is the best one for a daily driver. To my knowledge, the only member with one on right now is Khoa (kvo). You might send him a PM and ask him about it.

Perry,
Look for a guy named KVO. He is running a powertrax in his Ford 8.8. Says he really likes it, and I am pretty sure he had posted about it on another thread just recently.

Thanks guys,
I did get ahold of KVO, or should I say he got ahold of me.
I did get some info today from PowerTrax, but that is what they say, it would be nice to know of people that have them.
I have until Moab before I get a locker, so I have time.

Gerald,
Have you looked to see who has the best price on the noslip? I checked with a local 4X4 shop and they are around $400.00 from him. He has never put one in, but has done a few of the lockrights and said they work well and this supposes to be better.
I checked out the J**P site since I know someone with a J**P and there is quit a few that have them and say they work well. Better get it on my list for Santa!!

HIX found them at West Coast Diffs for $289-$309, at least $100 cheaper than anywhere else I've heard of. I haven't called them yet but will soon in case it's a temporary sale price.

Do they have a web page that we can check out?
Wonder if they would give us a little better deal if we bought them at the same time? Just a thought.

Powertrax No-Slip Group Thing

Count me in if you want to try and do a group purchase!

I was trying to decide between a Powertrax No slip and an Eaton Posi for the past few days. A price break would help me make up my mind.

Anybody else heard that Eaton has pulled their Ford posi of the market? I talked to a guy today who said they won't be available till January because they are redesigning them? Nobody else mentioned it...
