I have found a guy from Iowa that might be interested in making pre runner style bumpers for both generations of an Explorer.... cost aproximatelly $175.00 - $200.00 - about. If you'd like to see his product first hand go to:
http://community.webshots.com/album/21207989bMZuldZmdd

that's the bumper on his XJ

let's see how many would be interested...

here, the guy is from Fairbank, Iowa..... just talked to him. He can make either a plain pre runner or a wincher..... also working on something similar to the ARB....... says that as long as he's got mesurements of what you want he can do anything....

hope that helps.....

You can custom fit the ProComp ProRunner bar for the Rangers to the front of the early model Explorers.

pro comp has one for the Ranger? that'll be nice.... I got to check that.... I know James Duff has one too but it's priced a bit hight as far as I remember.... I'll check on both...
thanks,

I REALLY like the ARB safari bar bumpers. If he decides to build anything that looks even close to those, I'd be a guaranteed buyer. I've got a first generation explorer.

Bryce

looks a lot like the James Duff bumper that has already been made for the 91-94 Explorers in three different options. Regular, Reciever, and winch.

But it would be a good idea for the 95+ models to get a pre-runner style bumper.

it's possible as long as he can get the measurements...... we're trying to get a hold of the guy to arrange something. He says it shouldn't cost more than $200.00 but it's quite possible that it'll be more for a wincher...... different mounting system used on a 95+ makes it all that harder for everybody out there. When would these guys notice that we need aftermarket products as well??

Is this a pre-runner bumper or a pre-runner style grill guard? If it is a bumper (meaning I can get rid of the stock bumper) I would be interested - with a winch mount.

Jon

my bumper

The one in the Picture of my Navajo is a reciever bumper and can be used as a tow point.

Kris - is that the James Duff one? That's exactly what I want...how do you get the reciever option?

Kris has exactly what I want as well - just a winch mount instead of a receiver mount ...

Go to Jamesduff.com and give them a Call for the Price of the Bumper.

I am Going to Order a Winch bumper for the new Explorer.

Just tell them you want a reciever bumper or winch Bumper. They reciever one they keep in Stock and the winch one gets sold out quick but they make more to the Order. You can get them Bare, Powder coated, or With Spray on bed liner

Oh yeah they have built on Light tabs for mounting lights I have PIAA 520's on it now.

One last thing James duff is in the design process of rear bumper with tire carrier to match the Front. What more can you ask for.

These things are really strong dont let them fool you.

Oh man, that would be awesome.. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Do you know when they are planning to come out with it?

last I heard was late spring or Early summer. They were working on the Early bronco and Bronco II first then the Explorer because of the less interest for the Explorer one. But hey at least they are making one. Just so every one knows the rear bumper adn tire carrier will fit 91-97 models for sure.

I'm planning to make my own prerunner bumper but what type of bar should i use and what diameter?

I would be interested in a wincher or a ARB type bumper for my 97 Sport. Also do you know if he can possibly make a rear bumper/ tire carrier with a receiver ?

Just curious
The tire carrier would have to be able to hold a 36" tire.

Let me know
