preferred oil for transfer case?

What oil do you all prefer for the transfer case.its stock auto.I felt it the other day and it was way HOT and I haven't been useing 4x4 but it was over a 100 that day.

They call for just plain ole atf fluid.

Yea I know but its seem like atf would be thin and I wanted to know if people prefer a brand or type or if anyone runs anything different

Yea I luv amsoil for my bikes and will be going in the motor and trans soon.I've got syntec in it now as its still pretty new.

I use Castrol Syntec ATF, but any good DexronIII/Mercon ATF, especially synthetic, is what you want in there. Of course, some of the newer transmission fluids might work as well or better, but you'd want to be sure of the viscosity first.

Yep that's what's in it now.it just felt really hot to me and wanted to see what others are using
