price range for 95-99 4.0 4x4?

whats up guys, Been a while since I have posted in the explorer side of this place. I use to have a 00 mountaineer AWD lost my job and sold it to get an economical car thumbdwn got a great job and went out and bought me a sport trac 2wd this past month


now I'm ready to save up to buy me a mud/trail toy.

It's hard to find lifted explorers around here for sale so I think I have to make me one. I don't want to go through the whole 4x4 swap with a 5.0 AWD so I am going to be in the market for a 4.0 4x4


my question is what should I expect to spend for a (most likely) stock explorer 4x4 from like 95-99? obviously not looking for beautiful as it will be a mud truck. high miles would most likely be the case as well.

also what are some things I should look for when I'm out shopping for one?

i paid 1800 for mine. Which is was below blue book. Rust..always be on the look out for rust. I of course always look for rattles clicks and bangs. Check for any leaks. Im sure there are other things that I'm missing.
