Problem burping coolant!

radman, when you say take the hose off at the core are you talking about under the dash or were the rubber hose connects to the metal one going to the pump or right at the firewall to i slightly remove both or just the one. sorry for all the questions i have a wierd knocking/viberation noise under the dash were i cant reach or see right after i did a coolant flush

The heater control valve may not open just by selecting heat on a cold engine. I you have automatic temperature control system it will not open untill it has come to operating temp. Actually hold the valve open, the reason is you want coolant to flow through the heater core to push out the air.

Remove, loosen, the heater hose to the right (driver side) as you are looking at the firewall. You will see the heater control valve on top of the inlet hose. The noise you are hearing is air slugging through the system.

you are doing this under the hood not inside the car.

hot water (250+) down the upper hose to the thermostat

Sorry Jamie, I couldn't help but say this...that's impossible to do. You can't heat water that is open to atmosphere past 212 degrees. Think about it... :D

EDIT: At sea level. Less temp than that at altitude.
