i havea 4.0 v6 and when i start it, it sounds like the engine is jumping or skipping or something, i cant really find the words to describe it. but when i start it, it will do this "jumping" until i start driving. any suggestions on what this could be? maybe the fuel filter?any help would be great. thanks.

We will probably need a better descrition of the problem. Im sure some will have some suggestions though. But in my opinion if it was the fuel filter it would do it all the time.

oh i see. well it sometime also happens when im stopped, also my check engine light has been on since i have had the car. its not the air filter, but do you think the oxygen sensotr or something like that is not working correctly?

Get the codes read (AutoZone=free). Sounds like the IAC might need to be cleaned.

Im really not sure. Is the jumping like a miss in the engine? I would recommend having the code read from your check engine light. Autozone will do that for free on most models.

ok thanks. also do you think if it is that do you think lower mpg would be a result because since this has been happening i have been eating up gas pretty fast.

yea i think a "miss" in the engine would sum it up better

yes auto zone can scan your exp. if is 95 or newer. sounds like you do have a miss firing .

i got the code checked and it said that the intake air temperature sensor was higher than expected fot the engine operating conditions. so i will soon be buying a new air intake. founding out the problem feels so great...finding it out for free feels even better:) thanks for the advice.

you are buyong a new air intake to replace a sensor? wow and i though sensors were expensive....i hope you meant just the sensor...

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but autzone will scan your codes for free.
