Problem locking rear liftgate window

I have an '02 XLT. I'm having trouble getting the rear liftgate window to lock. With rear liftgate shut and rear liftgate window shut, I hit the power lock button on either door, or the keyphob remote, but the rear liftgate window is still unlocked. Is there some trick to this?

My 2001 XLT does the same thing -- the dealer said it is supposed to be like that. Others here have said that it must be broken. Hopefully someone can shine a definitive light on this.

What is the standard method for locking these rear windows?

With mine, I have to use the key to both lock and unlock the window. It does not work with the power locks at all.

That's definitely not correct. bluevolume, you've got a 2nd gen Ex like mine and all 5 of my doors lock when I use the remote or the door buttons.

Anyone with an '02 or newer have this problem? How do you lock yours?
