i have a 2000 explorer AWD 4x4 , i have 51000 miles on it,three weeks ago my front right caliper locked up, so i changed both calipers and pads, the rotors looked good, they don't look like they are warped or anything so i left them alone,i bleaded the brake lines from rear to front, worked good now i have the same problem need some help???????could it be a problem with the abs system?sensors?what can i check on my own? the dealers and garages rip you off when they can,i do most of the work on my cars myself but this has me gone nuts? any help out there ........not alot of money to play with so i have to do what i can on my own.............. :banghead: :frustrate

i had a similar problem on my 94EB...i replaced the calipers. One day i was driving down the road and they got so hot there was smoke comming from behind the wheel. i dont remember wehat it cost me but i think the calipers were 30$ a piece.

Just replaced the calipers on my 94 for the same reason. Don't know if it's cured yet but it was only $15 each for rebuilt calipers.

Hello crazie1, did you replace them with new or rebuilt calipers, or used calipers?
Usually calipers lock up after the vehicle has been unused for an extended period of time. I've had to replace them on two vehicles that I hadn't driven in many months.
Corrosion around the pistons is the problem, and used calipers may do the same thing. If it's not the calipers, then you have a question for the Ford technical support.
