Up until a couple of days ago my cig. lighter has worked just fine. I bought some dash lights that just hook up to the cig. lighter and they won't work. Just to check it I hooked up my cell phone charger and it won't work either. I plugged my actual cig. lighter in and it works fine (maybe a little weaker than usual but it works). What is the deal? I made sure the wiring was hooked in tightly and everything in the back.

I say check the inside of the lighter socket. It may have some surface rust that is preventing you from making a good connection.

Sometimes they just go bad. I tried to wire a neon up to the cig lighter today, but for some reason the thing stayed on all the time whether the switch was on or not :(

Have you checked the fuse?

mine didn't work when I got my ex, so I went a checked the fuse box and the fuse was blown.
its worth a shot.

if the fuse was blown, would the lighter still light up?

how do i clean out the rust if there is any in there?

Thats weird. If the fuse is blown, the lighter shouldnt work, but check t he fuse anyway.

If rust is your problem (and I'm not sure it is) use a piece of emery cloth, sand paper to clean it up.
