problem with takin off front diff cover

hi everyone i have a 2000 X V6 shoc 4x4 i tryin to take off the front diff cover i got all the bolts off but i guess its hung up on the gears inside and i cant pull it down but i was lookin at that long square bar thats underneath the the diff takin that off puttin a jack under the diff and slowly bring it down plz can someone tell me whats the easiest way

As far as I know you have to pull the whole axel to get the cover off.
 






Yeah I think its impossible to get the cover off.
 






how do u guys do it when u were changin your diff oil could u tell what kind of axle are they a dana 35
 






To remove the oil, you siphon it through the fill plug on the side with some sort of a pump. It takes a while but it works.

Now that you have the cover off you're pretty much destined to drop the axle, because even if you got the cover off you would have one heck of a time cleaning off the old rtv not to mention putting new on.

i tried this once and the gears got in the way so the hose couldn't "suck" anything. maybe try a shop vac
