Last summer I thought I blew up the front differental. I stopped at a light in 2wd and when I took off I heard a loud snapping sound. Then their was some grinding sounds. I thought the pinion pin fell out and exploded the differental. I was going to pull the front cover off the differental and look but you can't get the cover off without dropping the axel out. It has been working fine in 2wd I thought 4wd was gone. Last snowstorm I was stuck bad in my driveway and I thought what the hell try the 4wd and it work just fine. No grinding, snapping, or poping. Why did the axel make them sounds. Has it to do with the vacume assist on the axle.I don't what the truck to leave on the road stranded. Thanks
