I have an 02 ST that has a few issues. First off are these known for suspension issues? My front tires were new about 1 year ago and now the fronts are cupped so bad it rattles something fierce. Definately something out of whack.

The check fuel cap and check engine light are on. The check fuel cap light has been on for about 2 years now with the check engine light. It drives me nuts but I rarely have time to trouble shoot it.

I've replaced the fuel cap 3 times hoping that it would cure it. I smoked the gas tank to look for leaks and I'm guessing it's a vac leak in the evap system. Anyone have any good insight where I should look, anyone else have this problem? thanks

The tire cupping is most likely due to weak shocks. They are too soft from the factory and if you still have the originals from 2002, well, there you go. If you don't off-road, just get a set of Monroe Sensa Tracs at Sears and an alignment and it should be good.
I will also note that the ball joints on the late-model Ranger/Explorer are not known for long lives. But it is probably the shocks.

Can't help ya on the other stuff, sorry.

The shocks may be bad. Factory shocks get pretty soft pretty quick.
Ball joints are very common problems, as mentioned. Uppers and lowers. Have it looked over. I recommend replacing the originals with Moog greasable ball joints if needed, rockauto.com has great prices.
Have you pulled the codes from the computer? That is the first step in diagnosing a check engine light. Autozone should pull them for free. Write them down and post back with the codes.
