I bought a few tools the other day so i can start work on my 1992 explorer, i was almost going to sell it for the loan amount the other day but I've decided to at least keep it until i pay it off, maybe fix it up all nice and tidy, then decide weather or not i wish to keep it or not.
First problem i fixed was the coolant issue, i guess some oil had gotten on the hose between the radiator and the reservoir, and it completely came off squirting the contents all over the road. *oops*
i bought some hose clamps and fastened it on again, the hose has no leaks and its on there pretty tight, so i guess that can be makred off the list.

other than that, i still had to get to the bottom of my accelerator sticking, shortly after looking down there I realized that the FLOOR MAT was the culprit. *sigh*
(yes, i feel like a total idiot)
check
Then of course i needed to fix a few small cosmetic details, i filled a small star shaped crack in my windshield with some resin, changed the front wiper blades, etc
check
theres still a few more things on the list, but im stuck on this one... So i was under the hood with a voltage checker and the motor for my windshield wipers, everything there looked good.
next i went under the dash to the fuses and noticed all kinds of butt splices, i turned the car on and wiggled the wires and sure enough all kinds of nasty interference came through the speakers....
long story short i think my wipers only working on high and my stereo system problem are hand in hand, there has to be a short in the system somewhere. Now, i dont have a diagram on hand, but i found a number 10 fuse fried, so i replaced it BAM fried on impact (the car wasn't on at this time btw) i tried it one more time, fried that one to.
I think the last owner had tapped into the wrong ground wire or something. which im still not 100% sure of but it sounds logical to me... so my next step i think is trying to redo all those wires and connection down there, make sure they're going to all the right places, and maybe make the splices more clean.
Does anyone have a PDF file of the diagram on hand they could email me or know if theres one somewhere online? I've tried google but im not pulling up anything useful, just a few people asking the same question... Where can i get a first gen explorer fuse box diagram?
