I was going through my dads building looking for the high lift jack he use to have in his awesome 1975 360 4bbl 3 spd manual 4dr wagoneer (had to type all of that out bc it was that awesome of a vehicle) and ran into a tore up warn box that i had put my auto hubs in when i got my manuals put on. I had this done yrs ago b4 i knew too much about my explorer so i opened the box up and decided to see if they were really bad. this is what i found:

so how did that one side turn out so bad? well i have a theory, about 3 yrs ago we had a freak ice/snow storm in october. the night before my dad had gone to the store and had his 96 dodge 2500 4wd parked on a slight slope by our back porch to unload groceries, next morning he couldnt get out of the yard. beneath the 4 inches of snow was a layer of ice, and below that muddy ground. you dont know how mad he was that even in 4 low he couldnt get out of the mudhole he made spinning tires. so we grabbed a tow chain, hooked it to his hitch, hooked the other end to my truck and i pulled the back end of his truck up onto flat ground. while doing so i heard a multitude of creaks, moans, cracks, and ratchets. the end result was a busted hub.. and by busted, if you look closely you can see the gears are stripped and the bearing is messed up.

the one good hub is currently soaking in atf and will be for sale.
