Since im looking to put lockers in my front and rear axles, i need some pros and cons. im also looking to conserve my gas mileage and had a few questions like do they help/hurt mileage by much? also top speed, and all the other goodies. just need some input from people who have locked their axles. thanks a bunch.

a locker wont effect top speed any since that is determined by transmission gear ratio and rear differential gear ratio, as for fuel mileage it may reduce it slightly due to having both wheels spinning at the same speed around turns, but that depends on if u are gonna use a selectable locker (arb, ox, eaton e-locker) or a mechanical locker (detroit, aussie, lock-rite,etc.). if u use a mechanical or leave a selectable locker locked on the road u may have a faster rate of tire wear, but if its gonna be wheeled it will greatly help u out on the trail. They can be a lil picky on wet or icy roads, but since ur in florida im gonna go out on a limb and say that ice isnt an issue:D

nope, ice aint the issue at all. water, pretty bad but my main battle is sugar sand.

I ran lockers in the front and rear of my ranger for a few years and that truck would go anywhere. When I got upto 35" boggers i started breaking front hubs and axle shafts on a regular bassis, but that was usually in the rocks or hard hill climbs. They were fine on the road, I would say they are prolly the best off road upgrade you can make.

and with lockers u can do some really nice drawings on the pavement :burnout: :D

i run aussie in my front and rear and love them!!!!!!i run d35 still and manual hubs with 36x14.50.i havent had any breakage yet and just got back from a trip to the mountains.i wheeled it pretty hard on rocks and in some serious clay/mud.each day was a couple hours of wheeling for 3 days.the only problem whit a locker in the front is that you cant make sharp turns at all,it will push with all 4 locked.i ran one hub in the front unlocked till i saw i really would need both turning and with all four locked i feel i could go through or up about anything.i highly suggest aussie lockers and dont fear the gear ,go big.i run 4.88s and 36x14.50 and got 14.5 mpg drive there and wheeling :)i still get about 19+ on the highway.i have no cons besides the push but totally worth it when you have all 4 locked!!!
