As I was driving home I could hear a rattle coming from the engine. When I parked and lifted the hood to take a look the belt had fallen off it was shredded and hanging loose from the pulley the part where the belt goes around the acc. access that part is loose I can move it easily with the belt on. Sorry that's the best way I can explain it, I guess I would just need information for a 2000 ford explorer V8 5.0L serpentine belt repairs.

Haynes manual is good, and pays for itself first repair. Pick one up when you get new pulleys and belt. Also be mindful that if the rattle you heard was your engine overheating, you could have more than a belt problem. Depends on how long you ran it with no belt, and how hot.

Haynes manuals are known to have incorrect information.
It's been noted on this forum many times.

The Haynes manual for 2G explorers is excellent. I have other Haynes that are not such as Taurus and T100 they are not good at all. But the Explorer manual is good.
