Hey guys, Im new to this forum. I was wondering if you guys could help me out with something. Im starting to hear a squeaky sound from the pulleys. I was wondering should I replace them with underdrive pulleys?

Have you been able to isolate the pulley(s) in question?

Usually its the idler pulley and/or the belt tensioner that cause the noise.

Good advice, see if you can isolate the sound to a particular pulley or accessory. You might take the belt off, start the engine and verify that the noise goes away. If it does you know you have a belt/pulley issue. If not it's an engine issue.

I had a persistent squeak/squeal for years on my 2002 V6 Eddie Bauer that was driving me nuts. The dealer changed the belt once under warranty to no effect. I changed the belt once to no effect. I finally changed the belt again to a Goodyear "gatorback" belt which was cross cuts on the rib side for reduced noise, and this has banished the squeal permanently.

Welcome to this forum! Did you ever replace the belt or is it original? I get an occasional squeak from my drive belt. If I spray WD-40 on it, it usually takes the squeak away for about a month or two. Some brands are better than others. Some cheap brands use a very thin grade of rubber. Compare a cheap belt to an original Ford belt, and you'll be surprised at how much thicker the Ford belt is. The auto parts stores sell something called belt dressing which is made just for this purpose. Check this link for more information: http://autorepair.about.com/od/quicktips/a/belt_dressing.htm

Thanks for all your help guys! I will have to check out which pulley it might be later this week. Unfortunatly midterms are taking up a lot of my schedual.
