Greetings. Unfortunately my first post is a maintenance question.
I have a 2003 XLT (60,600 miles). I just had my rear brake pads and rotors replaced (Tuesday) - along with a 60k service. After picking up the SUV I had to take it back (Thursday morning) to have the shoes adjusted because they were grinding a little. That was done and all was well... sort of. Now I'm experiencing a pulsing sound when I accelerate to 40 mph and above. However, this doesn't occur until after I've been driving for about 5 or 10 minutes. The pulsing sound is coupled with a very slight bucking. Actually when it first started I thought it was the road surface - especially since the pulsing sound almost sounds like road noise, but after driving on several different road surfaces I realized it was the SUV and not the road.
The pulsing does increase and decrease with speed, but only slightly, where as the pitch of the pulse does change accordingly with changes in speed. Once I drop below 40 mph it almost complete disappears. At first I thought maybe it was a warped rotor, but I'm not convinced that this is what it is. ...Could it be a rotor? I'm also wondering if it isn't the drive train or the transmission. ...Oh, and the Service Engine Soon light came on yesterday evening - which I find slightly odd since I just had a rather major tune-up done on Tuesday.
Any thoughts? I've made an appointment to take my SUV back to the dealership for service, but Tuesday is the soonest they can fit me in.
Thanks
