so i went to go look at another 93 xlt explore today, drive fine, but when i stopped in a field, and put the truck in park, and pushed the 4x4 button the light came on, and i kinda could hear 2 lil noises in the rear like clicks, so i put the truck in Reverse and let it lock, then put the truck in drive, it seems like the 4x4 isnt on, and if i turn the wheel at a 30 degree angle and apply gas, the truck will barley evan move ??? why is that? if i full throttle the truck starts to move and the 2 Rear tires start chirpping, and the turck still barly moves??

so i am kinda confused if the push button 4x4 is evan catching or locking, and why it wont move almost like it surge's

gear box ?
tranfer case ?
push button silonoid and wiring probloms ?
rear-end going out ?

other then that turck hasd clean body and runs fine, i am stumped.

PLEASE pm me or post up, your theory on why this is happening, i would greatly appreicate it

thanks

the truck is fine... there is no e-locker like on the toyota, reverse is a lower gear than drive.... the extra binding you ar efeeling is normal, it takes a lot more power to spin the front driveshaft and drivetrain as well, and turning is very rough on the front end

Why did you put it in reverse to "let it lock?"

Did the truck have automatic hubs?
