push button 4x4

Just bought 92 4x4 explorer xl 2dr. I cannot tell if the push button works. I push the button and nothing happens. I will greatly appreciate any advise on this matter.

That site really is great. I had the same problem as you with my push button. I took apart the motor cleaned it and put in manual locking hubs and it worked. Unfortunately it concked out so i have coughed up the dough for a new motoe. $179 from www.fordpartsonline.com good luck

it may not be the motor... there are a few tests that yuo can perform.... 4x4 should work on pavement but it will make the car barely move.... then low range youll have to be stopped and in neutral and already in 4x4.....

oh yeah, if you try to do the pavement test, dont do it too long as 4x4 on pavement breaks parts due to stress....
