Hello all. I am new to these forums and would like to say thank you in advance for your help.

I bought a 99 Explorer Sport 4.0 with 118k miles. The truck runs great except for the 0741 code. Its still under the state's 500 mile/15 day warranty so the dealer had me take it to his mechanic who said they would replace the torque converter.

I was wondering what experience you have had with this error and how likely it is that the problem would be fixed with replacing the torque converter. Let me know if there are any other details you need. Thank you.

P0741 for your first post...tough one. OK, there are several things that could cause that fault, so to say replacing the torque converter will resolve it...who knows. It could be wear on the piston hub in the converter itself, or a bad pump stator seal, or worn valve body, internal leakage, bad solenoid, or even the internal thermostat....hard to say for sure. But I can tell you one thing for sure. Its not good. Ask me how I know.
