Question about '96 XLT

I have a '96 XLT that has the driver's side keypad entry option. My question is, is the keypad supposed to light up, and if it is, what is the light source? I looked through the manual and could find nothing. Thanks for the help.

it is supposed to light up when you push one of the buttons, i dont know the source, im gussing a bulb behind the panel, but i have NO idea how to get to it

You have to take the door panel off to get to it. I asked my dealer this and he suggested that the labor cost makes this not worthwhile to repair.

I think the bulb is part of the key pad.
