First off, does anyone know how many watts the external amp for a '92 AudioFile system is rated at?

I want to replace the factory head unit and keep the factory speakers, so I WILL have to bipass the amp, correct?

I picked up a Metra wiring harness kit for the power/speakers, but it didn't come with an amp bipass. Do you need some sort of harness to bipass the amp?

Thanks in advance.

The stock amp will put out 15 watts RMS to each of the 4 stock speakers. The sub amp will send 80 watts RMS to the stock sub. You can buy an amp bypass harness from Crutchfield for $10.

Would I have to buy an adapter to connect the subwoofer amp's wires into the RCA cables from the aftermarket head unit?

I don't believe there's such a harness made right now, you'd have to splice.

JTang, this is the adapter I was referring to, its actually a converter ;)

I'm just wondering if the amp-bipass harness that's available will work for the 4 speakers in the door AND the sub, or just the 4 door speakers.

Do I have any other options for wiring up the sub?

It's just for the 4 speakers I believe. I suppose you could ask Crutchfield. They don't give bad info, in contrast to what some say, they just don't know too much when it comes to anything outside of their specs and manuals. In this case, I'm sure they'd have some resolution or idea about your scenario since it's not too uncommon.
