I have a question. I’m getting one of those portable DVD players in the Bag (for the wife’s car), but I want to be able to hear it through the stereo and maybe even put it in the X when we drive it. My question is, would on of those wireless FM Modulators work or would I need something else. Any help would be great.

If you don't have an aftermarket HU with RCA inputs, then get the FM modulator... Otherwise, hook up the audio output from the DVD player to the inputs of your HU... I ran extension RCA cables from the back of my HU and mounted the inputs right below the dash so that I can plug whatever I want in there and listen to it through the stereo.

I have an after market in both the car and the X, but neither have RCA input on the rear of the unit. wouls a wireless one be good, or should I get the other? I'm looking at the ones on EBAY is there anything I should look for or look out for (Other than the seller on Ebay)

If you don't have a RCA inputs and don't want to upgrade your HU, then you don't have much choice -- you have to go for the RF modulator. I use a CD changer with an RF modulator and to be honest, the audio is horrible. Remember, since it's going through your FM radio, the best quality you can get is that of FM radio. The channel seperation is poor, there is an audible hiss, and the low and high frequencies are almost non-existent. Even my non-audiophile girlfriend noticed that CDs sound better on her CD HU than on my RF changer. It's possible that it could be my equipment in particular since I've never listened to another system with an RF modulator, but knowing the specs for radio on frequency response and signal to noise ratio, it's not going to sound good. Just my two cents...

I've installed RF modulators and have had them sound great, and have installed them and have had them sound like crap... basically, you get what you pay for

its only going to be for now and then so I don't think the sound will bother you all that much if its not audiophile quality, I have a rf modulator and don't hear any problems, I am not sure about the wireless ones though

I would really like to know how you added the RCA inputs...I have a '95 EB and would like to add an input for an MP3 player. The unit in my X has AM/FM/Tape but does not have CD or CD changer controls.

Any help would be appreciated.

All I had to do was buy short RCA cables and use them as an extension... I have RCA inputs on the back of my HU. If you do not have an aftermarket HU, you will need to either buy one with RCA inputs or get an FM modulator if you want to hook your MP3 player up.

k, thx for the info

Thanks for all the info guys...:D

If you want RCA's to the stock HU try this.

Connects behind radio to factory 16 and 20 pin connectors. Provides three separate audio inputs that are selectable through the factory radios CD changer controls.

Note: Works with or without factory CD changer.
