I need to know what size fuse to get for my power cable. I have one of the Scosche kits from walmart and I belive it has a 40A fuse in it. The amp has two 30A fuses in it. Can I still use the one that came with the kit or do I have to get a 60A fuse?

Your not suppose to upgrade fuses that come with wiring kits, just put another 40A fuse in, I know Best Buy has the fuse, I got the same fuses. They run about $6 for 2 at BB.

The fuse in an amp has nothing to do with the wiring fuse. They act totally seperate

I know, but the manual for the amp says that the inline fuse should be equal to the fuse in the amp, and I wasn't sure if it was counting both fuses or just one. I think there is one fuse for each channel.

It will depend on how long the wire is, and what guage it is. Obviously, you don't want to starve your amp. The fuse on the line should allow as much power through the line possible, without letting the power wire overheat, melting it (which will catch on fire) if for some reason the power wire grounds out on your car.

If you're unsure, then play it safe, rather than risk setting your car on fire if it ever happens to ground out (touch the car frame).
