2010 Limited V6 4x4
Hi Paul and fellow members,

I am new to the forum.

Yesterday, I purchased a 2010 Explorer Limited 4x4 V6 with Navi. I always wanted an Explorer. I traded a 2006 Volvo XC90 v8.

I am wondering if I made a mistake in getting the v6 as opposed to the v8. Can anyone shed some light on my concern?

They are both fine, you might get 1-2mpg more with the V6. . . .the v8 is a little more peppy . . . .but if you get into the gas mpg suffers,

if towing is a big deal the V8 is a little better but in 2010 they come with 3.55's while the v6 has 3.73 if you have the big hitch.

Yes, we will be towing. What do you mean 3.55's for the v8 and 3.73 for the v6?

when he is saying 3.55 he means about the gears ratio in the rear end. the higher the ratio like 3.73 will have more accleration and more off the line power than a lower gear like a 3.55. A 4.10 gear ratio has amazing accleration but not as much top speed. The higher the gear ratio the easier it would be to tow something heavy.

Gear ratio

Thank you for clarifying.
