I see there are a lot of threads about broken seat levers out there but haven't found one that addresses my particular question. My seat levers work... sorta.

The day I first picked up my Sport I noticed that the passenger seat lever didn't work like I expected it to. When I lift the handle often times nothing happens and I will have to push the seat back first while holding the handle in order to get it to swing and rake forward (sort of like a ratcheting motion). Once the passenger hops in the back seat I have to again hold the lever up with one hand and rake and recline with the other (not always getting it right). I can't simply push the seat back with one hand like with most other cars.

At first I thought, ok maybe the passenger side is kinda screwy but whatever, it technically works. But then I noticed the driver's seat is the same (with the exception of the rake which is electronic). Are these seats designed to require the user to pull the lever when returning the seat to it's original position or are my seats not working quite right? It's irritating because everyone who attempts to operate the seat gets frustrated when the seat won't click back to normal position and I end up having to reach over and do it for them.

your black lever u pull up on.... it attaches to another black piece through 2 rivets, the rivet ends on mine broke so lever falls off, the black piece attached to the lever goes up to free it up and goes down to lock in position, most of the time i dont use the lever cuase it falls off and somtimes u just dont need the lever jus focus on the black piece its attached to through the 2rivets on the side of the seat

i bet ur bottom rivet is broken cause when u pull up nothing happens, sounds like the rivets just like mine

OH i thought u were talking about side handle. u r talking about underneath? i havent looked at mine sorry if u were

I'll have to take the side panel of the seat off and take a look I guess. The levers work but the seat doesn't want to move on it's own sometiems and needs a little push to get started. My main gripe is when putting the seat back I have to lift the handle to do it instead of just pushing it back with my hand and everything clicking in place.

I assume the black piece you mention is the tiny foot pedal that allows the rear seat passenger to push the passenger seat up? It seems to behave the same way.
