question about speaker cubic feet volume

i am curious to know this. i am in the process of building kick panel pods for my 98 sport. as most of you know, there is not a lot of room there, but it can be done (i have the frame work done so far, and it is easier then i first thought). i know for sub boxes, you need so many square cubic feet volume, depending on what size of sub you have, and what you want to accomplish, but dose that factor into component speakers as well? i am using alpine 5 1/4 speakers, with there one in tweets.

Yes..it matters. If the speaker is more suited to IB applications than you can leave the rear of the pod open or make a varivent type enclosure.
