Spray foamed my hatch and got 2 cans of great stuff minimal expanding in. The foam is now to the bottom of the giant holes where you can see the the skin of the hatch. Should I cover the holes with reflextix or cardboard and spray away. I masked off the door lock solenoid and door lock pretty well, but what do i do about the two rods that have the fabric cover on them? And how do i remove dried foam that came out of the holes? Thanks. Oh one more question, how do you get this stuff off your hands. It is bugging the crap out of me! I tried carb cleaner, goop, and finally resulted on scrubbing it off with the gritty tips of needle nose pliers!

hey frshpwdr, i was wondering how you like your airdam. is that the one from performance products? i was thinking about getting it but i dont know if its worth the $350. let me know what you think. thanks

Airdam

I think its sick... it gives the explorer a different look up front. I didnt pay $350.00 bux for the airdamn though.. I paid like $350.00 for the Airdamn, hela fogz and custom paint to match the fender flarez. If you have the cash i'd go for it.. changes the look of the car makes it unique. I got itabout a year ago and oh yeah, it is from Performane Products. LATA

Ok thanks for the info. i will have to pick one up. The $350 i was talking about what for the airdam and the lights (250 for the airdam and 100 for the lights). what color does it come originally? i dont have flares but i have the grey bumper plastic stuff and airdam. is it that color? it says it was designed to match the rocker panels. let me know, thanks.

COlor

Mine came light grey'ish color... Wasnt grey color that I had seen on explorerz b4.. SO u will probably have 2 get it painted.

do you have any pics of the airdam on your truck?

Sorry FrshPwdr haven't been here for a while. As for the spray foam, It was a PITA! I got it on my hands, and nothing takes it off! It is still all over my fingernails. I also got it in my hair, I had to pluck it out with a comb and there are still little specks in my hair. Sean saw my car with the hatch panel off. That kid's pretty cool. Anyway, if you take off your hatch panel, you'll see two giant openings that expose the hatch skin. I sprayed into the bottom and just kept working my way up to the bottom edge of the holes. On one side, I just sprayed the whole can in at once. Don't do this! If you poke into the foam, 2 weeks later it isn't dry. Spray a little bit, wait 5 minutes, then spray some more. If you take your time, it should work out well. Another PITA was the holes where the hatch panel clips into. You have to wait for the foam to dry, then whittle away at it the best you can. I ended up using a file and just poking away. It wasn't dry inside the dry layer of foam, so I ended up destroying the file. What also sucks is the the fact I had to wait for the foam inside to dry, so I had to keep poking to let air in there. If I didn't, the foam would have gotten on the hatch panel, and I'd never be able to take it off again. After all this I said $%#@ this and spray glued a whole bunch of reflectix in there. What puzzles me is the foam didn't seem to do anything for damping or road noise. The reflectix makes a difference though. Since it's sunny today, I'll let the X sit in the Sun hopefully drying any undried foam. Then I'm going to whittle out all the foam the best I can. I'll spray Truck bed liner on there, then two layers of Raamatt (Generic Dynamat Extreme) then, if it isn't quiet enough for me, I'm going to go get some Dap Tex foam. It isn't messy and doesn't expand like a #%@*. You run zero risk of dimpleing your hatch, and it cleans up with soap and water. Hope this helped, I still haven't heard from AC Blessing, because I want to know how he kept putting foam past the huge holes. What he used to seal them So the foam couldn't expand out of the holes.

As for pics, I'll take some this weekend and post them. I'll show you all the things I've tried for sound dampening.

Pics will be posted after Christmas when I get some more Raamatt

Soundz good
