I have looked at many pictures of members Eplorers. I have noticed that some run these red top Optima Batteries which are really deep cycle batteries.

!) Why? Other than they are prettier than plane.
2) What benefits are there in running a marine type battery over the regular battery?
3) Doesn't it kill the life expectancy of the deep cycled battery?

Inquiring minds want to know,
Thanks,

Correct me if I'm wrong....but I always thought the Yellow Top was the Deep Cycle? If I'm wrong then I got screwed :p

You are correct. I just read there web site as listed by SiLenZe. Pretty interesting reading, but not allot of detail. I always try and go by the users of the product, they seem to be more reliable than manufacturers just stating claims that mine is bigger, better, and longer lasting than brand BCD&E. I had just purchased a new battery from Ford for my X and now that I have purchased a new 200amp Alternator, I am still thinking about that Red Top battery.

I thought all 3 Optima batteries were deep cycle batteries until I read there web site. I may run my Ford Battery for awhile and see how it holds up with me using all of that sterio equipment that is being installed right now. If it ever misses a beat, then I also will join the REd Top. LOL.
