Try my best to describe this. The area below the radio (storage) that holds the SD card and USB ports. The cover for that are on 2013 doesn't have a notch for cables, the 2014's do, is it the cover that includes the notch or the storage area/bucket itself ? Wondering if I can get a cover and gain the benefit :)

Thanks

WC

Hmm . . . my '13 Sport does have the notch. So I can run a cable out to my phone and keep the cover closed.

The notch appeared starting in mid-late Jan of 2013 builds, so later '13's and all '14's have it. The side panel has the notch, not the door itself. That panel is a few hundred dollars so it is possible to upgrade if you want to spend the money.

simply use a flat charging cable....the hatch will still open and close easily

I'll have to take a closer look at the lid. Wonder if I can dremel a semi-circle in it and still maintain a clean look.

Unless it's Winter. Mine only opens easily when the interior is warmed up. Has been that way since I got it.:)

I like this idea certainly better than hundreds of dollars. Unfortunately just bought a new lightning cable :(

Ok Ford is stating $360 installed and it is just the lid ! So flat cable or dremel wins this race !

There is an older thread on this with pictures of dremel tool cutouts that look great

Oh ya I forgot about that one......funny I never deleted the photo, thats weird.

Wildcat_1, I was able to install a power cable for my Garmin into the USB storage. I took out the rubber cover and under it is a small cover plate for access to the shifter cable. I then took a small flat driver, put it between the silver plastic and the black plastic next to the storage door. I was able to get just enough room to run a coat hanger down in and hook onto the power cable and pull it up between the slit. I then worked the cable toward the gap, forward and into the space next to the door. I pulled enough cable to work and not look like a mess. I left the small inspection cover off, and cut a small slit and gap for the cable Put the rubber back in place and was done. I was not able to add pictures to this wright up, but I have them, if someone wants to help me add them. Pete
