Ok, I know everyone in this particular part of the website is usually concerned with suspension and body lifts, which I like myself (JayR's looks awesome). However, I am more of a street drag person, so obviously, I am looking to lower my truck. Aside from going ultra-expensive and having someone custom do it, I would rather buy the $169.99 kit from Explorer Express...However, one thing concerns me. In the picture, there are no springs. Does this kit only lower the rear end? I would really hate to order the kit and realize that I have to spend even MORE $$ for springs. I was just wondering basically...Does the lowering kit advertised in Explorer Express' catalog as well as their Online Catalog lower only the rear? Or does it lower the front and rear? One other side question....Other than a front end alignment, is there anything else that I will need to buy once the kit is installed? Thanks a lot guys, I await your numerous responses. :)

Sean I have the explorer express kit istalled on my sport trac and it is front and rear! The rear will consist of a lowering block for each side of the truck! For the front, you will crank the torsion bars down to lower the truck. Thats it! After all that you will just need to install the camber kit that is included in the kit and get an alignment. Let me know if I can help in any way.

It might be a little more work, (finding exactly what you want) but I would think you could do it a lot cheaper. Blocks are less than $50 and I've seen coils for around $100. Which, I think would gice better perf. w/ a lower price. Good Luck either way and let us know what you do and how it turns out.

JC Whittney has the 2" lowering blocks for $21.69
and coil springs for $80.00 (none foe Explorers listed, but you could find them)

Ok, well since I have confirmed that the Explorer Express kit lowers the truck's front and rear, I'm most likely gonna go with it. I want the truck to operate within normal parameters, and the kit advertises that it allows the truck to do so. One thing though...What are suspension bushings? Would they help with the lowered ride quality? Is there anyway I can lower the truck 2" or more? The Explorer Express kit lowers it about 1.5", which is fine with me, but I was wondering if I could get that extra 0.5". Besides, life's a game of inches (random "Any Given Sunday" referal). Let's hear it fellas....

Sean! You could probably crnk the torsions down more than 1.5 but you will run into alignment problems. Get the Edelbrach shocks when you order the kit! You will be so pleased with the results.

lowering kit

I just picked up a Bell Tech 2" drop kit ($25.00). I belive the part# is 6100. My friend owns a machine shop so I will cut approx. 1/2" off the blocks. Also, I went to the local part store today and checked on a caster/camber kit for my explorer. The company MOOG sells the kit for $15 and change. I will be receiving them tommorow. I can post the Part#!! Lowering kit for $50.00!!!!!

What does the Bell Tech kit consist of?
Thanks

The Bell Tech kit come with 2 2" blocks, 4 U-bolts about 9" long and I think 3 1/2" wide and the nuts and bolts for it. The kit is a universal kit for lifting or lowering any truck. Not just the Explorer.

did you find the camber kit online? if so what is the URL? If i can get this info i will do it this way instead of explorer express. I have a sport, so the explorer express kit for my truck will not lower the rear, only the front.......that is a big no,no.....the rear has to go low too. so i might just do it the Bell Tech blocks and bring the front down 2"

The caster/camber kit is from Moog. Your local parts store should sell them. The part# is K8674. You need 2 boxes. Hopefully This info will help you.
