Hello
I wanted to make my 93 explorer more off road by adding some bigger tires like 31.5x 10.5 and then adding 3 or 4 inch body lift kit but body lift first. I was wondering how difficult this would be to add. From what i have heard this is easier then the suspension lifts. I do have some experience and have people who would be able to help too. The ones i was looking at run about 100 bucks i guess. Other any recomended kits too? My truck is mainly onroad bur maybe once or twice a week i will go out and find some good off road spots but its nothing really extreme considering i really dont have anyting really meant for off road trucks.
This was the one i was checking out

Any help on this would be great. Thanks in advance :D

Jimbo >> if i were you and i had that first gen X, i'd go with a suspension lift.

I talked to a friend and he said that a small suspension lift, like a 2" skyjacker(add-a-leaf and front coils), would be easier to install on mine than a body lift. This is mainly because mine is a manual and you have to spend a lot of time on installing a shift extension. He said that doing a small suspension lift like that is much easier than people think. If you want to do this 2" it is about $182 and you can get it at summitracing.com. The part number is SJA-132EXK.

ok thanks. I do have the manual so i wll check that one out

Any other suggestions on what i should do?? Thanks

Time wise, I did my body lift in about 6 hours by myself, the shifter extension was no problem, the only snag was the binding in the steering column which was fixed when I moved the steering column down about 1" from original location. beware, the fromt two bolts (right& left) will be frozen almost to the point of cutting them out, I suggest an air tool and lots of rust penetrator beforehand! That will cut your installation time dramatically. hope my rambling help you out

do the suspension lift.... tons easier and better for performance.....
