Right at this moment, I am installing some neon lights. I am running my switch off of the cigarette lighter but one wire is purple with a black stripe and the other is completely black. Which is postive?

I deleted your other two threads.
Please don't post anymore duplicate threads on this.
Just sit tight and wait for an answer.

LOL -- anyways, the easy way is to get either a Voltmeter or a noid light and try each wire with the ground (black wire on the VOM) against a body bolt. The voltmeter should read some positive voltage above 10v.

EDIT: Quick where's the bathrooM!?

As a general rule of thumb -- solid black will be negative (or minus) in DC circuits like a car.

I also deleted your duplicate thread about the black box under the dash. I wasn't going to say anything, but his appears to be a reoccurring problem. :banghead: Like RangerX said, post once and wait. ;)

Sorry. I didn't know which forum would it be best in. Won't happen again but just so you know, you are making a mountain out of a mole hole. It was two posts.

Actually, I am not, that was a friendly reminder not to double post.
