One thing you might try if you haven't done it already. Ground you battery again with the same size or larger than the power wire. I find that helps alot. Figured I'd suggest that before you spend the money.
 






1.2f should be enough for the 611a, not sure of the brand though.
 






If i put a 2 farad capacitor on there, is there any downsides to it? will it hold too much power that it wastes it, or will it be good for my alternator?

capactors are hard on the alternator. they drain very quickly and once drained are just another element of the system that the alt has to charge.

This is why they are useless. If your electrical system is weak, upgrade it. Dont put a bandaid on it which will cost you more in the long run.

Upgrade your big three wires under your hood to atleast 4 gauge wire

1) alt to battery + charging wire
2) motor to battery - ground
3) chassing to battery - ground

this should eliminate bottlenecks in your charging system. If you still have problems upgrade your alternator.
 






now i'm all confused, i thought capacitors were good for the alternator? what about the dimming of headlights? should new wires take care of this
 






To answer your first question, a 2f would be better than a 1.2. Bigger is always better with caps...

Caps ARE good for your alternator if used right, however caps dont do a lot and for the most part, are just a "band-aid" solution.

Do I use a cap? Yes. I know it doesn't do much, but I like having it in there.
 






Had one, took it out, made no difference. Save your money and upgrade your electrical
 






i can run my goliath(5krms) and my 8002(400x2rms) on stock alt with a few batts in the back, and not get too much dimming

if people cant run 700rms off a stock alt there has to be some problems
 






having a "few optima batts" in the back makes a HUGE difference!
 






not enough of a difference for 4000 watts extra, but big 3 can do amazing things, dont waste money on caps, or atleast a batt in the back, i got my G31 yella's from Scottie johnson and they look brand new(and he signed them:) )for like 120 shipped
 






It did not take much for my lights to dim in my nissan 300zx when I only had a 300 watt rms ample audio amplifier on my two JL audio w-1's. I put a 1.0 farad digital capacitor from SWX on there and it made a world of difference. Yes the capacitor is a "band aid" for your dimming of headlights. However it does save your alternator and believe me if you do not have the money to replace the alternator you would much rather have a cap which costs less and has a warranty. It is made to charge and discharge. It will do its job wonderfully if you buy a good one and you can't go wrong. Batteries can help, however it will also put strain on your alternator. It will have to work twice as hard to charge two batteries. Plus it will be stealing amperage from your stereo system, in the long run making your power decrease unless you do the big three and upgrade your alternator. my two cents.
