I am having the strangest problem I have ever seen. I have had this truck for about 4 weeks now. It is a 95' 4x4 Explorer Sport.
While driving shifting is easy. 1st is always a little tight but not difficult to get in at all. If I stop at a red light. Put it in neutral, let my foot off the clutch, then apply the clutch to put it in 1st it WON'T go. It usually won't get in any of the other gears either. I usually have to put it in reverse then slam it in 1st to get it to work. After this it shifts fine. It only gives me this problem when I am stopped and have taken my foot off the clutch. The clutch isn't going out, it works properly except for this one problem. Has anyone else ever had this problem or can point me in the right direction to getting it fixed?
Thanks!

Try bleeding your clutch it may help but more than likely it's you're slave cylinder or possibly the master cylinder. If you're going to replace the slave cylinder you should also go ahead and replace the throwout bearing (attached to the slave cylinder), pilot bearing, clutch & pressure plate. You'll also want to get your flywheel resurfaced or replaced. If you're mechanically inclined you can do it in a weekend, even quicker if you got someone to help.

OK, while I can handle most mechanical problems I have never had a manual. Please explain bleeding the clutch.
I can get to the slave cylinder fairly easy and can knock that out in no time. I know I can't do the clutch though and would rather try other cheaper things. With it being 4x4 you should hear how outragious the labor costs I am being quoted are.

You can't get to the slave cylinder fairly easy. The transmission has to come off.

Bleeding the clutch is similar to bleeding the brakes. The bleed screw is on the drivers side of the transmission towards the front.

I'm having this same problem, I have replaced master cylinder, slave cylinder and put on the updated line between the two. No difference.
