quick dumb question about pcv valve

why does the ford maintenance schedule say to replace the pcv valve every 30k, but everywhere else i look (i.e.: books, manuals, websites, etc.) it says 12k?

ive been doing it every 30k (my truck only has 33k on it), but im re-thinking this, now that im seeing the 12k interval more often.

Gee my X has +180K and it still has the origional pcv valve. You really don't need to change it every 12K or 30K, only inspect it to be sure it isn't cloged.

sounds good to me. the only reason i change it every 30k is because if something goes wrong and they try to void my extended warranty because of it, ill have smoke coming from my ears; id rather just replace it every 30k and not deal with the hassle from ford. thanks, though
