....for you guys.

is an '07 model 4.0 6cyl identical to an '02 model 4.0 6cyl?

the reason I ask is because my wife's '02 has two blown head gaskets I've been quoted a ballpark figure of $1800 to repair. I've got the hook up at LKQ on an '07 with low miles for $1100. will the transplant be plug and play?

TIA

I think they are the same. However, the throttle bodies are different and maybe some other sensors etc...

I figured the TB would be different so I was already planning on swapping the intakes.

how different could the sensors be?

Well, If you are using you old intake and stuff. there shouldn't be much of an issue.

I've looked at images of an '07 and even the intake looks identical but I'm aware that with this much of a production gap there could be connections in different locations among other thing. maybe I should look for one a little closer to my '02.

Another thing you could do is look up parts for both engines to see if the same part number comes up. Stuff like engine gasket set, water pump, timing chains etc. IF all that stuff is the same its a good bet everything else is the same.

well, I have good and bad news. the bad first. the '07 model ended up having 110k miles on it and not the low mileage I was initially told.

good new. I've located an '03 model that I just got back from looking at. this one has 42k or so I'm told. thing is, there is not definite way of telling how many miles are really on the engine.:( the engine is already out of the truck and the truck is long gone. is there anything you guys know that I could do to find out if the engine is good? I really need to get this ball rolling, my truck has been sitting for 4 days already.
